Many of us know only the percentage growth in
GDP of the country. Is it not necessary to measure the happiness of the
country? Many politicians and businessman believe that measure of happiness is
more necessary than measuring the GDP of the country. As we all know GDP is
measured on basis of economical state of the country. Measuring GDP doesn’t
reveal how many people in the country are happier.
Now we will see how is
happiness state of the country measured or calculated. Every year the survey will be conducted by United Nations sustainable development solutions network which
is known as “WORLD HAPPINESS REPORT”.
The study of happiness
ranks the countries on the very basic questions from Gallup World Poll. Besides some of the criteria are also considered The criteria according to which the happiness is
measured are:
· Firstly considering the GDP PER
CAPITA i.e gross domestic product per person, which can be available as in
data. And the other criteria which is considered is healthy life expectancy which
can also be available as in data. This focuses on effects of Covid-19 all over
the world. It describes and evaluate how the government of individual country all over the world have
dealt with the pandemic. It also explains how effectively some countries have executed protective measures when compared to other countries.
It is also calculated
by conducting few surveys in which respondents need to indicate on the scale of
1-10. The following are the few surveys that are carried out:
· How much social support do they get when something goes wrong in their lives. Are there any friends or relatives who can help them in their hard times.
·
How much freedom do they have to make
their own choices. Are they completely independent or not??
·
How generous you are. For example how
many times have you donated money to the charity in the past month? Because
helping others would definitely make you happier.
·
And also on the corruption, as in how
much corruption do they have in their government or within business.
